It was a Friday and I had just come home from a business trip in West Chester. I had been feeling unusually hungry and a little off my game. I decided to take a home pregnancy test the next morning to see if maybe that was the reason. The next morning, I got up before Dan was awake and went to the pharmacy. I bought my pregnancy tests and a pack of gum and headed home. I took the test and didn't even give a realistic thought to the fact that I might actually be pregnant. I have taken a ton of pregnancy tests in the past and they have all ended up being negative. I put the test on the sink and went about my business. After a few minutes had gone by, I looked and it said...
Pregnant. Pregnant? Pregnant?! I am pregnant??
I could not contain myself. I immediately started screaming and running down the hall into our bedroom. Dan was still sleeping and was completely jarred when he woke up (he thought I hit something with our new car). I couldn't even speak! I was in shock. I just held out the pregnancy test so he could see it. I had no idea how he would react. He looked at the test, looked up at me and smiled. We were having a baby.
Previously in the Dullen household:
About three weeks before we realized that Baby Dullen was coming, we sat down and talked about when we would like to have our first child and when we should start trying. We decided that since it would take a little while to get pregnant (yeah, right!!), we should start trying immediately. It is a good thing that we had our little "family growth" talk because we were already pregnant.
And so begins the journey of our little family! I am excited and nervous but I can't wait to be a mom.
